Amazing civilization

It isn't unreasonable for people pouring into cities, for which is the symbol of high civilization of human beings in any ages. Ipod, internet, computer, skyscraper, metro, electricity, mobile, TV，Plastic, aircraft, DNA, relativism... so many incredible components make up of modern sociaty. we stand on the shoulder of a giant cultivated through thousands of years' development by numberless master. We are in a great, unparalleled and remarkable era. We are so lucky!
　　
　　But wait, one can't make an omelet without breaking eggs, we must check what we have possibly lost.
　　
　　Letter plays an very important role in the successivity of human history, for we record our achivement by it. Which is exactly the problem. Letter is the standard to distinguish which types of knowlodge could be passed on and those can't be recorded by letter were vanished to us. Let's see two examples from western and eastern history respectively.
　　
　　Socrates, 469-399BC, whose wisdom came down through his student's (Plato) record. But we should ask such question, why? why Socrates himself didn't write down his thought to make it spread more stable and clear? Plato became the first philosopher in western history just because he is the first people write down something. We can't evaluate how much thought and spirit power been created and disappeared before that. Are them all stupid? I don't think so.
　　
　　We all know about this famous story.
　　
　　At that time the Buddha was seated on the Dharma seat when suddenly he lifted up a flower and showed it to the assembly. When he did so, none of the billions of humans and gods in the assembly could grasp his intention and so were silent. But among that gathering one venerable alone, Māhakāśyapa showed a smile quietly on his face. And then he rose from his seat, put his hands together, stood upright and silently displayed a gentle visage.
　　
　　At this the Buddha said the following to Māhakāśyapa, “The Tathāgata has the eye of enlightenment and the marvelous mind of nirvana, and the formless, marvellous form of truth. This cannot be expressed in letters and since it is transmitted outside of the teaching, if there is a causation with or without wisdom, it will be realized. Today, as I confer this on Māhakāśyapa, in future ages he will receive all the Buddhas’ predictions and will beome Buddha.”

　　This can't be expressed in letters. For this reason, we lost contact with saint's spirit, we could't understand traditional chinese medicine, we were confused how could our ancestor complete so many amazing relics, even some of them more advanced than now.
　　
　　In past, spirit leader always use many ways to enlighten their followers. Although many of them were recorded by letter, but they lost effect today, for there are too large obstacle to understand it's original meanings. Budhha ever predicted, Last Stage Era will come. So it is. Old age is vanishing, and New age is coming, we are in a cross of the alternation of two civilizations which are both great but relatively opposition.
