Iraqi authorities say at least 18 people were killed in an insurgent attack in a Baghdad car garage Tuesday. Police say insurgents shot five guards before setting off a car bomb. At least 33 other people were wounded. The reason for the attack was not immediately known.
Earlier, Iraqi authorities say at least six civilians were killed in crossfire between police and insurgents in Baghdad's Dora district. In another part of Baghdad, a roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier on foot patrol. Two Americans were killed by a similar bomb in Balad Monday.
Meanwhile, in Saddam Hussein's trial defense witnesses testified for three of the former leader's co-defendants who are accused of crimes against humanity for the 1982 massacre of 148 Shi'ites from the village of Dujail.
