现代学者课程想要达成的目标是什么?
我们在设计课程的时候在思路上注重追求几个目标——使这些课程不仅具有高度的教育价值、在各个科目上富于多样性,而且还要使它富于娱乐、使人在学习时获得享受。我们确信我们真的能实现这些目标。从一般听众到专业人士都将发现现代学者课程是值得付出时间、精力来加以学习的。

现代学者课程与众不同之处体现在何处?
第一点且是最重要的一点在于, 我们设法吸引一些在学术界中最了不起的学者, 这是其他从事这个行业的同行所无法达成的一个目标。例如, 优秀的历史学家和纽约时报畅销书作者罗伯特•戴勒克(Robert Dallek) (约翰逊和肯尼迪总统的传记作家、历史学家,在现代学者课程系列课程上教授的课程为《未完成的生活:约翰F.肯尼迪, 1917-1963》), 以及犹他州立大学校长和历史学教授克米特•霍尔(Kermit Hall)(《牛津指南:最高法院的决策》) 在他们的学术领域里是世界上两个最受人尊敬的学者,而他们都在这个系列课程中担任教职。Recorded Books公司作为一个出版商已经有了20年以上的经验——事实上我们已经为现代学者课程中的许多位讲授教授出版过他们的专书。但这次的现代学者系列课程,我们以各位讲授者各自开讲的形式,使它成为了一种全面的学习体验。现代学者课程最终的目标是要用尽所有最佳的方式模仿实际学院的(教育)体验。

一门现代学者课程都包含了哪些内容?
课程都被制作成卡式磁带CD,每门课程都有十四讲,每讲的长度都是35分钟。每门课程都拥有一册详细的、全彩的课程指导书(course guide)。课程指导书不仅包含了教授们所教授课程的大纲以及要点,还包括了大量可用于进一步学习的资源与选项。


如何下载这些课程:
下载这系列课程必须要安装电驴,初识电驴的朋友可以到www.verycd.com上去下载汉化版本(该版本最大的一个弊端是对关键字搜索设置了“敏感字过滤”,这样的设置使得在该版本的电驴上输入一些关键字之后,根本搜索不到使用英文版本时可以搜索到的一些结果),对电驴比较熟悉的朋友建议使用英文版(下载地址,www.emule-project.net),在电驴服务器之王“Razorback2”在所在国遭到封杀之后,建议联“DonkeyServer No1”服务器,这是后“Razorback2”时代拥有电驴资源最为丰富的一个服务器。联上“DonkeyServer No1”服务器之后,只要通过电驴的搜索功能(在搜索栏里输入“TMS.rar”或课程名称或讲授者的名字)就可以下载到该系列课程的mp3文件以及与课程相配套的课程指导书(gudiebook)了。
