招生广告

硕士研究生面试时,我们都要写一份导师自我介绍,供学生在选择时参考。因此这也被看作是导师的招生广告。

不过我今年的导师自我介绍却写成了货真价实的招生广告:



据说这“广告效应”确实不错,当时很多学生都去辅导员办公室打听了,当然,得到的回答是,“他在国外,怎么带你们?”

不过还是有两名工程热物理04级的学生选我做导师,而且确确实实经历了2个月的风险,但风险过后,我却为他们争取到了参加德国的一个DFG项目的机会,每人一年的时间在德国作硕士论文课题。当然,我对他们的要求不仅仅是在我这里拿一个硕士学位,而是希望他们毕业后能争取到一个在德国攻博的机会。

2009年硕士研究生报名就要开始了,http://yjs.usst.edu.cn/detail.php?id=2154,我在德国还可以提供2010年和2011年两年的学生助理的位置。不过我打算把这个特别待遇给课题组,作为课题组的招生方向,也就是说,2010年的学生助理的位置给从课题组老师09年招收的学生中选拔出来的两位每人半年到德国做实验。

这个广告的目的是什么呢?说白了,就是为了使课题组能够得到最好的学生!呵呵!

醉兄,报名要国庆以后才开始。关键是要通过工程热物理专业的专业课考试。

其实,一个二流学校的老师们要招收到较好的学生是比较困难的。学生选择导师,不仅仅看导师的专业水平,还要考虑导师有权还是有钱。权钱皆无的老师很有可能招收的学生连英语四级也还没过,这对于导师的指导会带来很大的负担。

而一个优秀学生却可以给导师带来很多成果。我们课题组的一个教授就曾指导过一位免试直升的硕士研究生,2年半的读研期间发表论文十余篇,最后考取清华博士研究生。

所以,作为导师,必须用心思作“招生广告”,这个招生广告就是导师对待学生的方方面面。我经常讲,我们对自己的学生,除了业务上要勤于指导和严格要求外,在许多方面都要对学生好一点,这样,你的学生就会为你去做广告。

首先要让学生能在你这里学到本领,其次要尽可能给予学生较好的待遇。

我听说有许多研究生发表论文要自己承担费用,而我的学生参加学术会议的费用从来就是全部给予报销的,并且还有些出差补贴,更不用说论文的版面费了;研究生保证每人配给一台计算机;研究生的助教费在我这里是铁饭碗和大锅饭,每月250元;每次我到工厂去,有可能就带上学生,至少可以让他们有点饭局上的经验,等等。

说穿了,就是横向课题自己的奖金少拿点,多用点钱在学生身上。当学生都想读你的研究生时,整体上的生源供不应求就变成了局部的供大于求,我们老师就可以有较大的自由度选到较好的学生,而这些学生将会给导师带来更多高质量的科研成果。

不错。跟这样的导师不仅仅学到知识,还能学到社会经验,不至于出去像个书呆子。很多老师连学生的论文都要霸占,更不用说替学生着想了。

兔子兄,学工程热物理恐怕毕业后找工作都有问题,招聘的人说:“工程热物理?我们不需要学物理的!”(当然,那个班就业的实际情况相当不错,跟我读研究生的那两个学生当时找到的工作不比研究生毕业的差)

言归正传,“招生广告”的一个重要组成部分是导师的成果,包括论文和项目。从项目列表中,学生大致可以看到自己的钱途,而从导师的论文清单中大致看到自己今后的发展前途。

问题是,领导们对导师的“招生广告”的篇幅都有限制,容不得你大出风头,这我到现在还没有一个好的解决办法。

比如说,我的论文清单该如何设计,才能收到最好的效果呢?也请大家出出主意。

陶文铨、姚平经

这两人都编写有著名教材,我手里就有,前面一个还是院士,名头很大。

当然,另外肯定还有不少人物,漏看了,或虽然看见但有眼不识泰山被忽略了。
