Summary: Appropriate intervention ideas, inappropriate demographics and epidemiology

I am a Smoking Cessation Peer Advocate for a CBO in Chicago. I was very excited to receive/review this product. I was very disappointed when I received it, however. All of the Epidemiological data is based on estimates derived from the UK population, not the US. There is NO mention of this in the book description, and I believe it to be a fundamental flaw as the data is not generalizable to the US population due to varying demographics. I will state that the intervention data and suggestions are appropriate for almost any demographic, although I was extremely disappointed to discover that the authors made NO mention of the LGBT community, a population with severe disparity regarding smoking prevalence. Major tobacco companies have targeted the LGBT community for years, often referring to them as SCUM (Sub-Culture Urban Marketing). I believe that the authors may want to consider a revised addition including these revisions.
