Every ophthalmology resident needs to have a book on Ophthalmic Surgery, whether it be this book, or the Spaeth Ophthalmic Surgery book (which I've never browsed thru). I generally prefer atlases for it's more visual and procedural nature, and this book is not an atlas. This book does provide good, detailed description of the procedures, fairly good description of the anatomy, great sections on post-op complications. It's probably overkill on the history, etiology, and medical treatment of these surgical conditions, although it's presence does make the book more of standalone without an additional medical ophthalmology text (I like Yanoff Duker for medical ophthalmology). I referred to it often during my residency and during my fellowship.
