a welcome teacher


Could we say “a welcome teacher” for “一位受欢迎的老师”?
Of course, a popular teacher is right. But can we use “welcome” instead?

"the teacher is welcome" seems natural.

& "a welcome break" or "a welcome change" is of no problem.

but it seems that they are really different.

I read about "a welcome change/break/relief", but not before a person.
However, why my teacher said "a welcom teacher" was Chinglish?

"a welcome teacher" 是正确的，见
美国传统词典：
a welcome guest.
受欢迎的客人
