a welcome teacher
Could we say “a welcome teacher” for “一位受欢迎的老师”?
Of course, a popular teacher is right. But can we use “welcome” instead? 应该可以的吧,牛津字典上welcome词条第一条就有例子 :a welcome vistor一位受欢迎的客人 "the teacher is welcome" seems natural.
& "a welcome break" or "a welcome change" is of no problem.
but it seems that they are really different. Thank you, petersheng.
I read about "a welcome change/break/relief", but not before a person.
However, why my teacher said "a welcom teacher" was Chinglish? 引用第1楼petersheng于2007-11-27 21:57发表的 :
