how to write this?
Consider the compound sentence\"My subject is Mathematics and I'm not sure whether it is a science.\"
I like to make it a complex sentence, but I can't find a correct
complex form!
I suggest some options, of which I'm not sure of the correctness.
1. \"My subject is M, of which I'm not sure, whether it is a
science.\" (probably incorrect).
2. \"My subject is M, whether which is a science I'm not sure.\" (too
stilted?)
3. \"My subject is M, I'm not sure which is a science.\" (compound?)
If neither is correct, please suggest one.
Thanks. My subject is Mathematics which I'm not sure whether is a science .
薄见而已... 刚刚在 OED 的序言里看到这么一句
Hence, there are many words of which it is doubtful whether they are still to be considered as part of the living language; they are alive to some speakers, and dead to others.
因此类比一下,我觉得
My subject is mathematics of which I'm not sure whether it is a science.
是正确的 First, I'm afraid I must point out that t you all may confuse ''compound sentences " and "complex sentences". A compound sentence is usually linked by a coordinating conjunction or by a semicolon without a conjunction . While a complex sentence contains one main clause and one or more dependent clauses, with a connective word denoting the relation between the two parts .
So, my expertise is "My subject is M ,however ,I am not sure whether it"s a science or not."
or"It's unclear whether M is a science or not ,even though it is my subject ".
It's just my opinion ,and you may have your expertise .
