Only recognized destructive testing should be used in determining impact resistance, break characteristics, and whether or not thermally tempered glass complies with standards such as, but not limited to, 16 CFR 1201, ANSI Z 97.1, ANSI Z 26.1, and the requirements of the Federal Railway Administration and Federal Specification, DD-G-451d.

该仪器不能确定玻璃材料是否符合标准，也不能准确地测定低于1万磅/英寸的钢化玻璃表面压力。只有采用公认的受损试验，才能测定钢化玻璃的抗冲击强度和破裂特性，确定钢化玻璃是否符合如下（但不局限于如下）的标准，如6 CFR 1201、ANSI Z 97.1和ANSI Z 26.1，以及是否满足联邦铁路管理局和联邦规则DD-G-451d的要求。
