OED:
1967 House & Garden June 88/4 Bathroom scales with magnified reading panel, 56s. 9d.
Longman Dictionary of Comtemporary English:
some new bathroom scales (=scales that you use to weigh yourself)
thanx for trying
BTW, what is OED? OED
Oxford English Dictionary, the biggest and most authoritative dictionary. errrrrrrrrrrrrr, I trust langman more than that.
Besides, it tell me how to pronounce in the American way. i am in u.s now, and do have some scales myself.
according to my experience. the tizhongji is not only called bathscale, it is also called weight scale, bodyweight scale and sometimes scale only.
why the scale is often put in the bathroom? coz in many house, the bedroom and living room is covered by carpet and scales often requires a hard suface like tiles in the bathroom. another reason that i think which is the most important is people always want their real weight which need them to be naked, this often happend after a bath. I really appreciate your help, bro..
